Alex-Tronix recommends
using the model LS (Latching Solenoid) with all of its battery powered
controllers. The LS is a 12 VDC two wire polarized latching solenoid.
It requires a short DC pulse to turn it on, and a reverse polarity DC
pulse to de-energize it. No energy is required to keep the valve open.
The black lead is the common and the red lead is the positive. Caution:
connecting the leads in reverse will cause valve to stay on when it
is supposed to be off, and off when it's supposed to be on.
Consult valve compatibility chart for adapting the LS to various valves.
The LS can be operated directly
by the Enercon and Smart-Alex series controllers. The BCS requires a
module attached to the LS for proper operation. This combination for
the BCS is the model BCS-SOL. The BCS is normally used for extremely
long distances (over 2000 feet), or when more than one valve must be
operated at a time per station.
Consult factory before using
any other latching solenoid with any of the Alex-Tronix battery powered
controllers.
